Murphy Burke III

Murphy Burke’s practice has consisted primarily of insurance defense and commercial litigation in both state and federal courts, including trials and appeals. He has tried many jury trials and even more bench trials to verdict. He oversaw and managed multi-jurisdictional litigation arising from the Imperial Sugar explosion in Savanah, Georgia, involving approximately fourteen deaths and fifty suits in state and federal courts in Georgia, and, separately, multi-jurisdictional litigation concerning the operation of the W. R. Grace asbestos mine in Libby, Montana, involving more than fifty suits in state and federal courts in Montana, Maryland, and Delaware.

Mr. Burke is a 1982 graduate, summa cum laude, of Jesuit High School, and a 1989 graduate, cum laude, of Tulane Law School, and a Diplomat of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Basic and Advanced Trial Schools. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

He is also a student of the Krav Maga fighting technique, and enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with his two daughters, his two grandchildren, and Teresa, his wife of thirty-seven years.
