Jason R. Anders
Mr. Anders’ practice is focused primarily on business, construction, and succession litigation, contractual and management disputes, and various business transactions. He has handled a wide variety of legal matters for business and individual clients, including representing a CPA before the State Board of CPAs where he successfully challenged a six-figure attorney fee assessment against the CPA. His defense of the case and legal arguments resulted in legislative changes in the laws governing CPAs and a clarification of the disciplinary process for CPAs. See Acts 2013, No. 188, § 1, 2013 Regular Session, Louisiana Legislature.
Mr. Anders is licensed to practice law in both Louisiana and Texas. He has also been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Tax Court and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western districts of Louisiana. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit, the Jefferson Bar Association and the New Orleans Bar Association.
His legal work has included representing a national commercial-finance company and obtaining a summary judgment dismissal of a plaintiff’s claim for return of fees associated with an $8.2 million commercial loan (reported in Commercial Lending Litigation News, September 2, 2004); representing a national manufacturing corporation and obtaining a summary judgment dismissal of claims filed under the Louisiana Products Liability Act; representing a national food-service company and its parent corporation in federal and state litigation based on alleged violations of federal and state environmental laws; representing a national gaming company in litigation arising out of an ad valorem tax assessment and in a dispute over ownership and management of company assets; representing a national gaming company in litigation based on alleged violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act and Title VII; representing employers and insurers in workers’ compensation and other employment-related disputes; representing property owners and construction firms on construction defect issues; counseling employers on compliance with various federal and state employment laws; and counseling employers on the drafting and interpretation of employment contracts and non-competition agreements.
Mr. Anders received his law degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. He was named to the Law Center Chancellor’s List in the fall of 1998. Mr. Anders also received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Louisiana State University, and a Masters of Business Administration degree in Finance from Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business. While attending business school at Baylor, Mr. Anders was inducted as a graduate member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, an international honor society for economics. He has also served as a delegate at the Annual Meeting of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
Mr. Anders is involved in several organizations including St. Catherine of Siena Men’s Club, the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, and the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club, and he serves on the Board of Directors for Lakeside Country Club, where he helps to plan and organize family-friendly events for members and guests. He supports non-profit organizations such as the Pro Bono Project, Friends of City Park and Bridge House/Grace House, while also serving as a Cub Scout Den Leader and a volunteer Youth Baseball Coach for the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department.
